Dormer repairs and roof windows in Kent

Kent & County Roofing fits roof windows and repairs dormers across Kent: the dormer's own roof, its tile-hung or clad cheeks, and the flashings that seal it to the main roof.

Dormer repairs

A dormer has more joins than any other part of a roof: its own small roof, often flat, two cheeks, a window, and flashings on three sides where it meets the main slope. A leak round a dormer can come from any of them, so each is checked.

Fitting a new roof window

A roof window can usually go in without planning permission. The Planning Portal sets limits, including that it must not stick out more than 150 millimetres from the slope of the roof, and those rights can be removed in some areas.

A new roof window does generally need building regulations approval, because the roof structure is altered to make the opening, the roof has to carry the window's weight, and the window has to meet the rules on heat loss (Planning Portal).
